How much money do you think we as a society have spent on experimenting with new hair care products from TJ Maxx just to use them once and have them sit in your house for years until you finally pull the plug and toss them??? I have definitely dropped more money than I'd like to admit... falling for the fun-colored bottles and empty promises on the fine print. "This is gonna be the shampoo that Really transforms my hair this time".... NOT.
Gosh, there's nothing more frustrating than getting a new conditioner- taking that shower- putting that product onto your hair.... and BOOM....... your hair feels like STRAW. The product's spreadability is ZERO. You're reaching back for the bottle MORE THAN TWICE to be able to cover all of your hair in this conditioner you just spent 14 bucks on.
The worst part about it is the reviews. I've done my research. I've stood in the hair isle at Ulta for 40 minutes reading through each product's reviews to ensure my hair won't fall out or turn brittle.... But alas.... the reviews still seem to lie.
I want to purchase a product that is healthy for me.... at the very least won't cause cancer.... but will leave my hair feeling strong and silky.... and to be honest I still haven't found something that checks all the boxed.
So.... for my shampoo and conditioner... without naming brands.... I'll just say that after all the experiments, the hundreds of dollars spent, the thousands of reviews read,,,, I have fallen back to my affordable, go-to brand since I was 12. Proooobably not the healthiest option unfortunately.
NOW - I can say that I have found a few products that have been game changing for my thick, frizzy, wavy natural hair.

This product keeps me sane, especially while on trips to high-humidity places like South Florida & The Bahamas. I am so very glad I tried out this product a few years ago- and I have put my family and friends onto it as well. The fact that my hair was still nice and curly with minimal frizz after a night out in Fort Lauderdale was enough for me to be a life-long fan. This is an anti-humidity/anti-frizz leave in treatment with built-in heat protectant. It is heat-activated and is VERY lightweight. So, I DRENCH my hair in this after the shower, blow dry it and hit it with my curling iron so the product can truly work its magic. Honestly, I adore this product. I would like to try some of Color Wow's other products but haven't gotten to it yet!
Redken One United All-In-One Treatment

I have tried MANY leave in treatments and this one is definitely my favorite, although it is pricey. It's lightweight which is super important to me, since I like to try and get a couple good hair days in before I wash again. It's a good detangler and definitely leaves a nice shine. I have found that a little goes a long way... putting too much can start to weigh your hair down a small bit. If you feel your hair is lacking some shine, this is a great quick fix.
INFINITIPRO by Conair Rose Gold titanium 1.5 Inch Curling Iron.
Now this isn't technically a hair product, but I did want to show you all the curling iron that I LIVE BY. It's honestly super affordable compared to some of the crazy expensive products you see out on the market. Something about this specific curling iron just gives me the nicest curls that hold all day... and into the next day. I specifically like the 1.5 Inch barrel; I think the larger curls just look so timeless and beautiful (see picture below). Of course, disclaimer - this also has to do with the specific texture and makeup of my own hair, but I have tried plenty of irons and this one by far takes the cake. It does have a clamp, but I use it as if it were a curling wand, wrapping my hair around it away from my face and holding. This thing heats up so quickly and just works wonders.
